    I'm T2 insulin dependent. I identify with T1 because it's my lifestyle as well. No subsidy for pumps here in Australia for T2. My diabetes is in control using sensors and pens. Just saw my endo. I'm in range 99% of the time and 17% variation. A1C is almost normal. He was so pleased. I inject basal in the morning and then bolus during the day. I don't need insulin at night - that's how my body works apparently. After a few years I have become very used to the injections. They seldom hurt and if you have a good mental outlook, they're just part of your life and not an aggravation. No pumps for me.

    Another thing that is new is you can get a packet of extra overlays from Dexcom instead of having to pilfer one out of a new sensor box. I had one that crumped onto itself while I was putting it on and couldn't use it. So I got one out of the next box and kept on robbing Peter to pay Paul until I had a new sensor with no patch. That just doesn't work for me, because they just fall off. So I taped the last one on with some paper tape and called Dexcom and whined about the patches. They sent me a new sensor because they said they didn't have extra patches. I guess that's not economical, to send out a sesor becuase you don't have the otehr patch which probably costs about a dime. Now they can send you a whole pack of them to keep handy in case you have your overpatch get clumped up or if it doesn't stick.

    I use an Apple Watch Series 9 the latest and greatest. I am using Direct to Apple Watch, latest software, and most of the time it works, however, Apple Watch shows Loss of Signal even though it does not show iPhone symbol and most of the time the correct glucose reading. Apple Watch on same arm as sensor. 30' is new sensor bluetooth range. Google search shows I am not the only one with this problem. The new glue that is used on overlay tape is the best they have ever had!!

    Thank you for your video; it was most informative. I have noticed some unusually low readings in the first 24 hours of a new sensor and your video explains it perfectly. One other thing about the Dexcom G7 that bothers me is that you can't get visibility to readings in the past, only the current. This came up because in my Cardio Rehab they asked me what my "fasting" blood sugar reading was (when I first woke up) and I had forgotten to look. It would be nice if I could tap one of the previous dots on the graph and unveil the reading at that time.

    I wore Libre on front of my upper arm because it was easier to scan, but I lost a couple from bumping into stuff. When I went over to Guardian I wore it in my chest mostly, tried thigh ones but I got false lows and had to change it and didn't that since. On G6 I used mostly stomach, since it was trickier to fix with on upper arm. Now I'm in my second G7(warmup still going on) and I placed it on my upper arm just before watching your video, haha. The first sensor I put on my stomach but I though I was going to let that are rest a bit.

    Since the needle remains in the applicator, should it be disposed of in a sharps container ? I break mine down and recycle the metal and plastic and put the needle in the sharps and as a plus, that little magnet comes in handy. It is quite strong for its size.

    • @DiabetesStrong
      @DiabetesStrong 2 дні тому

      It becomes a sharp container once the needle is encapsulated. How to dispose of it depends on where you live. In the US it differs from state to state. Sounds like you have a solid routine for recycling! Love it. If you ever want to look into sharps disposal this is a great resource: www.SafeNeedleDisposal.org

      Omnipod can be placed on your back, abdomen, and buttocks, so you have a few options. It's recommended that you have them on the same side of the body, and you can have your Dexcom and Omnipod on the same arm, however, they should be at least 3 inches apart.

    Hello, thank you for explaining this topic. I am new to this, having just received my Accu-chek kit from my Insurance Co. First, a short history, I moved from Montana to Michigan to receive better Healthcare. The first question my Dr. asked was "How long have you had Type 2 Diabetes?" NOBODY ever told me I had this yet, the Dr. said "You've been taking the medication for 8 years". I read the 40+ pages of History sent to him from Montana & not once is Diabeties mentioned. - Ok so, now I'm using this meter & I've taken 3 reading a day to start but the readings are 105, 101, 89 then 88, 101, 89, etc. I have NO clue what these numbers mean or if they are Good, Bad, or Ugly. I do use my Left hand & switch fingers for each test. Any help would be appreciated. - EDIT - I just thought of something that may make a difference. My Heart Dr. has me taking a blood thinner because blood is pooling in the bottom of my heart so, to prevent a clot I take that along with the other dozen pills. Could that change these readings?

    I was really excited about the new Apple Watch direct to watch feature and for the most part it works pretty good but like any new update it was bound to have a few bugs and this is no different. At least a handful of times a day I get a disconnected message on my watch and then a few minutes later I get a message again saying G7 has successfully paired with my watch it happens quite a bit throughout the day hopefully they fine-tune it in the future but still overall happy to get the updated readings on my watch without having to tap it every time to get it to open the app and refresh. I have the new ones with the underlined LBL code and I still with my watch on my left hand and my sensor on my left thigh still get disconnect notices quite frequently so I haven’t seen any extended range I always have to chuckle when I get a disconnection message when I’m walking and my left arm is down to my side practically touching the sensor on my thigh lol and yet still disconnects but overall I’m pleased with the update but it still has some issues with disconnects and now instead of it only disconnecting from my phone now it randomly disconnects from my watch and my phone lol

    I have used the Dexcom G6, but soon switch to G7, since the Omnipod is now compatible with it beginning end of July. I usually place the Dexcom on my stomach areas, left and right sides. I just switch sides each time. I do like to use my upper arm or any part of my arm for either the Dexcom or the omnipod. I have used it for the dexcom once and it fell off in the same day, since I sweat so much. The Omnipod is usually on my thigh. I just switch legs after each one. A few times used my stomach. My blood sugar readings have been quite steady while the sensor is on my thigh. I would check with livongo meter once a day at least. With the G6, I have had a few compression lows during the night, but did not too many times. Hopefully with the G7, this will not happen.

    I got permission from my doctor to use the G7 on my abdomen as any other location is difficult for me to apply. Dexcom has it on record and have not given me any issues on replacing any sensor which I have an issue with. But I don't think any of them are due to the placement. Just bad calibration readings mostly.

    Too bad they still have not upgraded the G6 hardware.I have sometimes signal loss when receiver is within one meter. Problem is also that (at least in switzerland), you have to sign an expensive rental contract that runs for 5 years.... so you're stuck with the pump system for that time, and if it only talks to G6...and not G7... If the market was not regulated as it is now, progress would be way faster. And... thanks for you excellent updates - even if I can't use the G7 yet.

      @@DiabetesStrong The only way out of these contracts is if your doctor claims that it does not work for you. But non- direct compatibility with the apple watch, or frequent signal loss, or software bugs is likely not sufficient.

    I will be happy when someone produces one that is inexpensive and is accurate so that pre-diabetic and type 2 can see what their response is to different foods. So they can control their food intake and not tip over the edge of diabetic it is unfair in that we have to pay for monitoring I just can't afford the price in UK and they are not accurate enough to really work that purpose.

      A good diabetes educator can help with how to do this. Have been doing this for 20 years. Just takes a bit of thought.

    I have heard about the G7 being available for Omnipod by July 29th. I used a few of the G7's giving to me by my Endo, before I switched to G7, since I started on the Omnipod this past January. I still do finger sticks to check to see how accurate or not the G6 is. Or are the 2 meters I am using, how they match up with the sensor. A few times, the numbers were exact or no more then 5 points different.
